Preliminary guide; Altogether there are nine preliminary guides, so called because by engaging in them we are guided to the actual spiritual paths of Tantra. The four main ones are:
(1) the guide of going for refuge and generating bodhichitta,
(2) the guide of meditation and recitation of Vajrasattva,
(3) the guide of Guru yoga, and
(4) the guide of making mandala offerings.
