Shuklodana
[白飯王] (Skt; Pali Sukkodana; Jpn Byakubonno)
A younger brother of Shuddhodana, father of Shakyamuni. Shuklodana was a son of Simhahanu, king of Kapilavastu in northern India. According to The Treatise on the Great Perfection of Wisdom, he was the second son of Simhahanu and had two sons, Bhadrika and Tirnabhasya. According to The Fivefold Rules of Discipline, his two sons were Ananda and Devadatta, who became Shakyamuni's closest assistant and greatest enemy, respectively. The name Shuklodana was rendered as "White Rice" in Chinese versions of the sutras.
