You are skilled in means of taming beings according to their needs. Your adherence to the perfectly pure supreme conduct of bodhisattvas makes you noble. Your boundless mind and your compassion that seek to benefit others make you altogether excellent. I supplicate the best of skill, nobility, and excellence!

You have awoken to the realm of the purity of outwardly-appearing objects. Your inner channels and elements have ripened into pure life-energy. Your secret wind-mind pervades the vast expanse of primordial wisdom. I supplicate you, the one who has accomplished the union of the great secret!

In brief, you are a true embodiment of perfectly pure bodhicitta, permanently free from fabricated trickery. You are the matchless Lord of Dharma. I supplicate you Garchen Vajradhara!

If the force of my fervent devotion calls upon you, and if I supplicate you with a melodious song of heartfelt yearning, let fall a dense rain of blessings of your enlightened body, speech, and mind, so that they seep into the mind-streams of devoted ones!

With heartfelt devotion and undying three faiths, I prostrate to you! The wealth of virtue accumulated with my three doors are my offering to you! I confess unwholesome actions, going against your heart’s wishes, and all faults I have committed with the three poisons! I rejoice in the vast activities of the three secrets! Please continue to turn the unsurpassed Dharma wheel of the three vehicles! I supplicate you: may your three kāyas always remain in the essence of the long-life gods! I dedicate all pure virtuous deeds accumulated in the three times toward the attainment of great and total liberation of the three realms!

From now on and through the succession of all my lives, I pray that I may never be separated from the supreme guru, the lord of the family; I pray that I may perfectly serve you in the three ways of delighting the guru; and I pray that the teacher and disciples remain together as a single mandala!

By following the guru—the supreme mentor—as their guide, may all sentient beings limitless as space, be swiftly liberated from the dark ocean of existence, and may they be established in the state of supreme liberation and great bliss!

The spiritual teacher Yeshé Rabgyé, holding a clear intellect and a pure intention toward the teachings, greatly insisted that a supplication to the actual life stories of our supreme refuge Lama Garchen Rinpoche was necessary and very important, and said that I must compose this by all means. I also wished to do so; however, I am quite busy, so I postponed it, intending to compose this slowly and deliberately at a later point. However, he didn’t give up, and continued to persistently insist that I complete it quickly for Lama Rinpoche’s 84th birthday celebration, so I accepted. However, I have only been able to consult two different supplications to the stories of his former lives, and I have not found any other documents in relation to Rinpoche’s life stories to use as a reference. Thus, for the subject matter, I used mere fragments of what I have seen and heard myself of the ocean-like [accounts of] the guru’s life stories. Under the refuge of the holy guru, I, the one with the name Lho [Bongtrül] Tenzin [Nyima], quickly, quickly [wrote down these] words as they came to my mind during the breaks between sessions.

May this supplication be meaningful! May it be virtuous!
