attuning thought (一念相應). Actually not a thought. In a flash of attunement, one enters a non-dual state, realizing one’s true mind and/or seeing one’s Buddha nature. In Chan Buddhism, experiencing an attuning thought means breaking through the first or the second gateless gate.
