Awa Province
安房国 ( Jpn Awa-no-kuni)

    Also known as Boshu.

The old name for the southern part of what is now Chiba Prefecture (adjacent to Tokyo) on the main island of Japan.

In 1222 Nichiren was born in this province in a fishing village called Kominato on the Pacific Ocean. Seicho-ji temple, where Nichiren first chanted Nam-myoho-renge-kyo and publicly proclaimed his teaching, and Komatsubara, where the steward of Tojo Village, Tojo Kagenobu, and his warriors attacked him, are located in this province.
