中阿含経 (Chin Chung-a-han-ching; Jpn Chu-agon-gyo )

One of the four Chinese Agama sutras. Samghadeva, a monk from Kashmir, translated and compiled it between 397 and 398. A compilation of 222 sutras of medium length, it explains such basic doctrines as the four noble truths and the twelve-linked chain of causation. The Medium-Length Agama Sutra corresponds to the Pali text Majjhima-nikaya, which contains 152 sutras of medium length.
