The paper aims to present the spread of Buddhist tradition in Bulgaria - southeastern European country, blessed with a fascinatingly rich cultural heritage dating back to around 6000 BCE (the first Bulgarian state was established in 681 CE). The examined period covers thirty years, extending from 1991 to 2021.Several aspects of the spreading of Buddhism in Bulgaria will be discussed. Among them are the emerging and development of Buddhist communities in the country, Buddhist Studies in Bulgarian higher education, translation of Buddhist literature into Bulgarian language, significant publications dedicated to the Buddhist thought, as well as lectures of international Buddhist teachers and scholars, holding of scientific forums, conferences, exhibitions, and music programs dedicated to Buddhism.
Buddhism has played a great role in the historical and cultural interrelations of the Central Asian people. Buddhism influenced not only the social development but also the spread of philosophical ideas. It served as a stimulus for the development of the eastern Renaissance. In this context we shall discuss in the following two interconnected problems.

Non-Church and Detraditionalised Religiosity in Czechia: The Case of Hinduism2010 •
It elaborates necessary conditions of acculturation of "foreign" traditions in modern West, and on the case of further development of Yoga and the Hare Krishna Movements shows particular problems these movements had to face in the situation of political/social transformation. It represents development of these movements as a process determined by the role of (printed) media and its change in transition from Communism to post-Communism on one hand, and by the public representation and discussion about NRMs during the 1990s on the other hand. Inner tensions and splits these movements faced in this period are presented as correlates of their specific position in a society in political/social transition. Some peculiarities of this transition and of the position of Hare Krishnas in Czechia are clarified on the background of comparison with the situation in Hungary.
This chapter covers those Buddhist traditions which are largely based in Europe, noting some of the specificities of this history as against the North American with which it is sometimes conflated. While the reception history of Buddhism in Europe stretches back to Alexander, Buddhist organization in Europe begins in the later nineteenth century, with the partial exception of indigenous Buddhisms in the Russian Empire. The chapter discusses Asian-oriented Buddhisms with a strong European base; European neo-traditionalisms founded by charismatic individuals; explicitly new beginnings; and the broader world of " fuzzy religion " with Buddhist components, including New Age, " night-stand Buddhists " , Christian creolizations, secular mindfulness and engaged Buddhism. In general terms European Buddhist traditions reproduce the wider decline of religious institutionalization and boundary formation that shapes much of European religion generally.
