Special ceremonies celebrating the fifteenth anniversary of Guru Padmasambhava’s teachings arriving on the island.Eight Emanations of Guru Padmasambhava

In Tibetan, Guru Padmasambhava is generally referred to as Guru Rinpoche, which means “precious master.” Guru Rinpoche is renowned as the buddha of degenerate times. He dispels all negativities and violence, freeing all beings from their troubles and disturbances. In the seventh century, Guru Rinpoche brought the entire teachings of Buddha Shakyamuni to Tibet. Buddha Shakyamuni actually predicted Guru Rinpoche‰۪s appearance as a fully enlightened buddha, saying that Guru Rinpoche would be a direct reincarnation of Buddha Shakyamuni himself.

Guru Rinpoche did not become enlightened gradually or start practicing the teachings of Buddha Shakyamuni and eventually gain enlightenment. Guru Rinpoche incarnated as a fully enlightened being. Through his form, primordial wisdom manifested in the world to benefit all sentient beings.

When Guru Rinpoche appeared on earth, he came as a human being. In order to dissolve our attachment to dualistic conceptions and destroy complex neurotic fixations, he also exhibited some extraordinary manifestations. The Eight Emanations of Guru Rinpoche embody his most beneficial activities on behalf of all beings. They demonstrate the marvellous flexibility of the true nature. There is room for everything to appear and ceaselessly transform, and no point in clinging to exclusive forms or dogmas.

Dissolving fixed conceptions and not clinging to limited perceptions reveals the vastness of the true nature, the sphere of great equanimity. By breaking down the walls of rigid thinking, we merge with this evenness, seeing everything as inseparable and flowing in continuous transformation. We become decent, intelligent human beings capable of really helping others.

Guru Padmasambhava’s teachings offer a direct path to actualize this understanding.
