  1. stream-entererone who has entered the stream leading to nirvana
  1. once-returner – one who must return once more to the desire realm in order to abandon the remaining discards
  1. non-returner – once who no longer needs to take rebirth in the desire realm in order relinquish discards
  1. arhat – one who has completely overcome the enemy of the disturbing emotions and is therefore worthy of praise
