Parinirvana Anniversary of Jonang Master Lama Yonten Zangpo – Commemoration in Tibet and Supplication Prayer

19th Apr 2018Dakini Translations

Today is the anniversary of the parinirvana (passing away) of Lama Ngawang Yonten Zangpo, (1928-2002), Jonang master and also root Lama of Khenpo Chokyi Nangwa Rinpoche. Here are some pictures taken of the commemorations at the main Jonang Dzamthang Tsangwa monastery in Tibet as well as the Supplication Prayer Tibetans recite for him, with English translation.

Supplication Prayer to Khenchen Ngawang Yonten Zangpo

Heart of the ultimate Lama, mind of abiding reality;

A treasure ocean of great qualities, all-pervasive Dharmakaya;

Bestower of excellent deeds residing in the nature of samsara and nirvana;

I supplicate in the presence of inconceivable, self-luminous awareness.

Translated by Adele Tomlin, 19 April 2018.
