devayāna; (‘ the way of the gods’)

Also referred to as the ‘northern path’, one of three paths taken by the self, or its subtle body.

‘The path of the deva’, the way, in Hinduism, followed by the truly faithful after death, leading to the realization of Brahman. Less methodologically, it is the path of wisdom and spiritual knowledge - Devayāna. In Hindu literature, the "path of the gods", of those who attain faith and knowledge either in this life or hereafter. The path they follow leads eventually to complete absorption in brahman. devayāna : nt. the path to heaven; an air-ship.
