pramāṇa = measurement, perception. The verb man- means to think (i.e. English mention, mind pra- is a prefix that is the same as our English prefix pro- borrowed from greek.
viparyayah = incorrect thought, incorrect perception. Formed from prefixes vi-, pari- (i.e. periscope).
vikalpa = delusion. kalpa ‘well ordered’ is historically the same word as English help ‘facilitate’. See the historical grammar section for the sound correspondences. Once again prefix vi-
