While pulse reading, the doctor does not limit himself to counting the pulse rate, but he uses his fingers and natural sensitivity to understand mental and physical disorders which are associated with five vital organs and six vessel organs.

There are many types and characteristics of pulse and it is read in a number of places on the patient's wrist. This diagnosis may also involve a general examination of body tissues and Loong points when necessary.
