Resource List for the Study of Buddhism in China, 1850-1949

This is a draft list of academic resources useful for the study of Buddhism in China in the modern period, between about 1850 and 1949. I am limiting its content to:

  • secondary sources in European languages;

  • recent Chinese-language scholarship; and

  • reprint collections of primary materials

simply because to include primary sources would mean a list of thousands of items or more.

If any listed citations are incorrect or you have a suggestion for an additional resource, please contact me at gregory.scott@manchester.ac.uk
