Vithurabandit was a scholar and a confidant of King Thananchaikorapaya in the Kingdom of Intupat. It was said that anyone listening to a sermon delivered by him, had total faith in him. At that time Vimala, Queen of the Nagas, wished to listen to one of his sermons. She pretended that she was sick and said to her husband that she would die it she didn't win his heart. Her husband set up a plan, telling Arithantee, his daughter, to go and seek out someone who would be able to win Vithurabandit' s heart, promising that he would offer his daughter, Arithantee as a reward to anyone who could achieve this. Arithantee left her Underworld Palace (Nakpipava) for Himapan Forest. As she was singing near Kalakhivi Mountain, Giant Punnaka, riding by on his horse, heard her voice and immediately fell in love with her. He then volunteered to win Vithurabandit's heart for her. He set out to the Kingdom of Inthapat. Once there, he played a game of saka with King Thananchaikorapaya and he wagered his jewels and his horse. Giant Punnaka, an honest and reliable person, won the game and he said to the King that he wanted Vithurabandit as his reward. Vithurabandit, did not want his King (Thananchaikorapaya) to renege on his word and he agreed to travel to Giant Punaka's palace. On the way to the Nagas Kingdom, after tying Vithurabandit to his horse's tail. Giant Punaka tried every means to kill him, so that he could win Vithurabandit's heart. However Vithurabandit didn't die. When Vithurabandit asked why Giant Punnaka had tried to kill him, he told him the whole truth. Vithurabandit delivered a sermon about Sathu Nara Dhamma (the Dhamma of the good man) to him. Then, Giant Punaka had faith in Vithurabandit: he changed his mind and decided to take him back to the Kingdom of Intupat. Vithurabandit was acting according to the way of the Truth, and he decided to travel to the Nagas Underworld. Then Vithurabandit delivered a sermon to the Nagas, Vimala, Arithantee, and Giant Punnaka. After listening to him, all of them had faith in him.
