thousand-spoked wheel 千輻輪相; (Jpn sempukurin-so )

Also, thousand-spoked wheel or the markings of the thousand-spoked wheel.

One of the thirty-two features that a Buddha is said to possess, appearing on the sole of each foot.

According to one account, markings of a thousand-spoked wheel on the sole of each foot represent a Buddha's untiring efforts to turn the wheel of the Law, i.e., to expound his teaching, traveling far and wide on foot to remove people's afflictions.

According to several Buddhist scriptures, the markings appear on a Buddha's palms as well as on his feet.
