upacāra-samādhi: 'neighbourhood-concentration or access-concentrationn', is the degree of concentration just before entering any of the absorptions, or jhānas. It still belongs to the sensuous sphere (kāmāvacara ; s. avacara).
upacāra-samādhi Pāli term denoting a stage of mental concentration which is passed through prior to entering any of the levels of trance (dhyāna).
