 five Desires (五欲). One’s Desires for pleasures in the five sense objects are
(1) sights,
(2) sounds,
(3) scents,
(4) flavors, and
(5) tactile sensations.

 One also has the Desire for pleasure in

(6) Mental objects, verbal or nonverbal, coarse or fine. Humans are driven especially by their Desires for
(1) riches,
(2) sex,
(3) reputation,
(4) Food and drink, and
(5) sleep. These are impure Desires in the Desire realm, and there are pure Desires in the Form and formless realms.

[五欲] (Jpn go-yoku )

    (1) The Desires that arise from the contact of the five sense organs (Eyes, ears, nose, tongue, and Body) with their respective objects (color and Form, Sound, smell, taste, and texture).
    (2) The Desires for Wealth, sexual Love, Food and drink, Fame, and sleep
