8. The Abode of the Child of the Truth
The Flower Garland Sutra says:
"These Bodhisattvas abide in ten kinds of karmic deeds, which are
- Conduct of the body that is without error
- Conduct of speech that is without error
- Conduct of thought that is without error
- Being born according to one’s wishes
- Recognizing the various desires of living beings
- Recognizing the various understandings of living beings
- Recognizing the various spiritual realms of living beings
- Recognizing the various karmic deeds of living beings
- Recognizing the attainment and loss of worlds
- The mastery of spiritual feet and traveling anywhere with them without hesitation
These Bodhisattvas should encourage the study of these ten things:
- Recognizing all the spiritual lands (ksetra) of the Buddhas
- Stirring all the spiritual lands of the Buddhas
- Embracing all the spiritual lands of the Buddhas
- Observing all the spiritual lands of the Buddhas
- Going to all the spiritual lands of the Buddhas
- Traveling in all the countless worlds
- Receiving and accepting the Buddha’s countless teachings
- Presenting one’s life and mastering spiritual transformation and influence
- Raising up a great full and broad sound
- Serving and worshipping the countless Buddhas in a single instant
This is to make Bodhisattvas progress in skillfully applying the teachings so that they grasp what they hear without having to depend upon others to explain it."
