Mikkaka
弥遮迦 (Skt; Jpn Mishaka)
Also known as Micchaka. The sixth of Shakyamuni Buddha's twenty-three, or the seventh of his twenty-four, successors. Born in central India, he was originally a teacher of Brahmanism with a following of eight thousand disciples. When he heard the preaching of Dhritaka, his predecessor among the Buddha's successors, he converted to Buddhism with his followers. Known for his scholarship and eloquence, Mikkaka spread the Buddha's teachings in northern India and transmitted them to his successor, Buddhananda.
