苦岸比丘 ( Jpn Kugan-biku)
A monk said to have lived one hundred years after the death of the Buddha Great Adornment in the remote past, according to the Buddha Treasury Sutra. In those days, the followers of Great Adornment had split into five schools, but only one, led by the monk Universal Practice, maintained the Buddha's teachings correctly and enabled its followers to attain Buddhahood. The leaders of the other four schools, including the monk Shore of Suffering, departed from the Buddha's teachings and denounced Universal Practice, thereby falling into hell.
