adana-consciousness
[阿陀那識] (Skt adana-vijnana; Jpn adana-shiki )

Another name for alaya-consciousness in the Consciousness-Only doctrine. Adana-consciousness was interpreted in China as "maintaining-consciousness" because it maintains the life and body of a sentient being.

See also alaya-consciousness.
