五正行・五種の正行 (Jpn go-shogyo or goshu-no-shogyo )

    Also, five kinds of correct practices. Practices for attaining rebirth in the Pure Land, expounded by Shan-tao (613-681) in his Commentary on the Meditation on the Buddha Infinite Life Sutra. According to that work, correct practices are those related to Amida Buddha.

They are
  (1) to read and recite the three basic scriptures of the Pure Land school—the Buddha Infinite Life Sutra, the Meditation on the Buddha Infinite Life Sutra, and the Amida Sutra;

  (2) to meditate on Amida Buddha and his Pure Land;

  (3) to worship Amida Buddha;

  (4) to call on Amida Buddha's name; and

  (5) to praise and give offerings to Amida Buddha.
Among these, Shan-tao designated the practice of calling on Amida Buddha's name as the primary practice, and the other four as auxiliary practices. Shan-tao used the term "correct practices" in contrast with "sundry practices," the latter signifying all Buddhist practices not related to Amida Buddha.
