He passed the lineage of Nyala Pema Dündul on to Tertön Sogyal. He was renowned as an emanation of Gyalwa Chokyang, one of the twenty-five disciples of Guru Rinpoche. Born into the family of Akalbu (a skal bu), he became a yogin who dressed in white and wore his hair in a top knot. He assisted in the construction of the main temple at Kalzang Monastery and took responsibility for all Pema Dündul's disciples after their master attained the rainbow body.
