two kinds of hindrances (二障).
A. (1) Affliction hindrances (煩惱障), which lead to another two kinds of hindrances, Evil karmas and corresponding requitals (see Three kinds of hindrances);
(2) hindrances to Wisdom-Knowledge (jñeyāvaraṇa, (智障), which are one’s ground-abiding Ignorance (住地無明), the deep-rooted Ignorance (根本無明).
