Vāyavi (वायवी):—One of the thousand names of Yamunā, according to the Yamunā-sahasra (see Śrī Garga Saṃhitā 4.19)
1) Vāyavī (वायवी):—One of the nine Dūtī presided over by one of the nine bhaivaravas named Diṅmaheśvara (emanation of Ananta, who is the central presiding deity of Dūtīcakra), according to the Kubjikāmata-tantra and the Ṣaṭsāhasrasaṃhitā.
2) Vāyavī (वायवी):—Sixth of the eight Mātṛs born from the body of Khecarī, according to the Kubjikāmatatantra.
These eight sub-manifestations (mātṛ), including Vāyavī, represent the eight directions of the compass (from east to north-east) and are presided over by the Bhairava Saṃvarta and his consort Rudrāṇī.
Khecarī is the first of the Eight Mahāmātṛs, residing within the Mātṛcakra (third of the five cakras) and represents the element ether or space.
