Hsin ; In Japanese Shin or Kokoro. A key term in Zen Bsm. The Japanese reading of the ideograph of which the Sino-Japanese reading is Shin (q.v.), in the sense of the essence of man whether known as ‘heart’ or ‘mind’.

Mind or heart, but not in Western sense of either term.

The deepest aspects of both; inmost heart or deepest mind; soul but without that term’s theological implications.

That factor in each human being which is part of All-Mind.

(See Shin.)
