transmigration in the six paths
六道輪廻 (Jpn rokudo-rinne )
The cycle of birth and death that unenlightened beings undergo in the six paths of hell, hungry spirits, animals, asuras, human beings, and heavenly beings. Transmigration in the six paths suggests continual rebirth in the realms of delusion and suffering, where one remains at the mercy of earthly desires. Transmigration is a translation of the Sanskrit word samsara, which also means wandering.
See also samsara; six paths.
