Scripture is a general term for the sacred writings of any particular religion. While the Buddha expected his disciples to consider his words very carefully, he advised against giving precedence of scripture over personal experience. Thus the informed Buddhist uses the Tipiṭaka,the Buddhist scriptures, as an indispensable guide, but does not consider it to be inerrant or the only repository of Truth.
