Amritananda, Thera Nepalese Buddhist who became a Bhikkhu in Ceylon and then returned to become the leading Bst. in Nepal. Founded his own Theravada Centre and School on the hill of Swayambhunath (q.v.), near Katmandu. Organized fourth Congress of World Fellowship of Buddhists at Katmandu in 1956, and has since travelled extensively in Europe, the U.S.A., the U.S.S.R. and Japan.
