O-juzu (Buddhist rosary), an essential item for Buddhists to use in ceremonies or services, especially within the Shingon school. Rosaries can be used to count mantras, rub together to “rub” away the 108 passions, and can also be held while meditating on the Buddhas to transfer the 108 passions to the deities of the Garbhakosa mandala, helping rooting out one’s own suffering.
