Tao-sui
[道邃] (n.d.) (PY Daosui; Jpn Dosui or Dozui)
A priest of the T'ient'ai school in China. He became a disciple of Miao-lo, under whom he studied T'ient'ai's teachings. In 796 he went to Mount T'ient'ai, where he studied for nine years, thereafter taking up residence at Lung-hsing-ssu temple. When Dengyo, who later founded the Japanese counterpart of the T'ient'ai school, came to China from Japan in 804, Tao-sui taught him the T'ient'ai meditation. His works include A Personal Commentary on "The Annotations on the Mahaparinirvana Sutra" and A Personal Commentary on "The Annotations on the Vimalakirti Sutra."
