pramāṇa-vāda (Sanskrit). General term for the school of logic and epistemology founded by Dignāga (c.480-540). Famous exponents of the tradition include Dignāga's student Dharmakīrti (c.530-600), Prajñākaragupta (c.850), Śāntarakṣita (c.8th century), Kamalaśīla (c.8th century), and Ratnakīrti (c.11th century).
