Attachment: A deluded Mental factor or Perception that observes a person or object and regards it as a cause or source of Happiness, and wishes for it. A deluded mental factor that observes a contaminated object, regards it as a cause of happiness, and wishes for it.
attachment: The two attachments are:
(1) attachment to the concept of self, i.e., the concept that there is a real, permanent ego entity; and
(2) attachment to things of the world or to the concept that things of the world and worldly phenomena in general are real.
Both concepts are based on wrong views and the source of our clinging to samsara or worldly existence.
Definition: Exaggerated not wanting to be separated from someone or something. (Exact opposite of Aversion) Because the label of "pleasant" is very relative and based upon limited information, Attachment includes an aspect of exaggeration or "projection".
Near "enemy" (or not to be confused with): Real appreciation, love and compassion.
Opposite: Wanting to be separated from someone or something: aversion.
Main quality: exaggeration of positive qualities, which can only lead to disappointment. Falling in love will usually fit very well in this category.
