The ancient shamanic traditions in Tibet have not been denigrated or disregarded by Buddhists. Indtead, their power has been assimilated into the view and practice of Tantric Buddhism. Invoking the transpersonal energies that allow him to separate from his physical body, Wangchuk invites into his body the healing forces of the Buddhist gods. Attaining a condition that for most beings is achievable only after death, Wangchuk dissolves the inner elements and winds that obsure awareness of a more encompassing reality. He uses his extraordinary skills for healing and divination. Even more essential, he believes, are the prayers and meditations that he dedicates to all sentient beings.
