     (1) The Thus Come One Gladly Seen by All Living Beings. The name that Mahaprajapati(also known as Gautamior Gotami), foster mother of Shakyamuni, will bear when she becomes a Buddha, according to the "Encouraging Devotion" (thirteenth) chapter of the Lotus Sutra. In this chapter, Shakyamuni tells Mahaprajapati: "Now if you would like to know the prophecy [of the attainment of enlightenment] for you, I will say that in ages to come, amid the Law of sixty-eight thousands of millions of Buddhas, you will be a great teacher of the Law, and the six thousand nuns, some still learning, some already sufficiently learned, will accompany you as teachers of the Law. In this manner you will bit by bit fulfill the way of the bodhisattva until you are able to become a Buddha with the name Gladly Seen by All Living Beings Thus Come One... Gautami, this Gladly Seen by All Living Beings Buddha will confer a prophecy upon the six thousand bodhisattvas, to be passed from one to another, that they will attain supreme perfect enlightenment."

     (2)[一切衆生喜見菩蓮]( Jpn Issai-shujo-kiken-bosatsu): The bodhisattva Gladly Seen by All Living Beings, also known simply as Gladly Seen. A bodhisattva described as a previous incarnation of Bodhisattva Medicine King in the "Medicine King" (twenty-third) chapter of the Lotus Sutra. According to this chapter, he learned the Lotus Sutra from a Buddha named Sun Moon Pure Bright Virtue and thereby gained supernatural powers. In gratitude Gladly Seen used his powers to make offerings of heavenly flowers and precious scents to this Buddha and to the sutra. He decided, however, that such offerings were less worthy than the offering of his own body. Anointing himself with oil and once again employing his transcendental powers, he burned his body as an offering of light for twelve hundred years, illuminating the entire universe. When his body was consumed, he was reborn in the land of the Buddha Sun Moon Pure Bright Virtue and again served this Buddha. After this Buddha's death, he burned his arms for seventy-two thousand years as a further offering.
