"Benefits of the Teacher of the Law" chapter
法師功徳品 ( Jpn Hosshi-kudoku-hon )
The nineteenth chapter of the Lotus Sutra.
In this chapter, Shakyamuni Buddha addresses Bodhisattva Constant Exertion.
It begins with Shakyamuni's statement that, by carrying out the five practices of embracing, reading, reciting, expounding, and transcribing the Lotus Sutra, one can purify one's six sense organs—the eyes, ears, nose, tongue, body, and mind. The chapter then elaborates on the benefits and powers about each of the purified sense organs.
The "Teacher of the Law" in the chapter title indicates one who practices the Lotus Sutra oneself and preaches it to others.
