The distinction between the Doctrine of the Eye and that of the Heart is basic to Oriental Wisdom.

The former contains the doctrines and practices of a teaching; the latter its Wisdom which cannot be written down.

In the words of The Voice of the Silence, The Dharma of the “Eye” is the embodiment of the external and non-existing.

The Dharma of the “Heart” is the embodiment of Bodhi. the Permanent and Everlasting’.
