The Pagoda

Hoa Nghiem Pagoda was founded in 1987 with the affinity, the first temple of the Vietnamese Buddhist Church Unified Southeast of Melbourne (GHPGDNM). Thich Phuoc Hue and the Interim Executive Board (You Buddhists in the region) bought the house at 20 Princess Avenue, Springvale temporary facilities operating of the Temple. Thich Nhat Ton was appointed Abbot of Wat Hua-yen at the end of 1987. By the end of 1990, Thich Nhat Survive study emigrate Taiwan. UNDERSTANDING OF HUMANITY - Buddhism

Humanity

Gautama Buddha, the founder of Buddhism, was born in 563 BC in the ruling Kshatriya family of the Lichhavi tribe in Lumbini, in the foothills of Nepal. His father was the chief of this tribe. It was said that Gautama (who was named Siddharth) would become a saint and renounce the world. Therefore, his father took all possible care to keep Gautama in a palace full of luxuries and comfort.

However, Gautama was not satisfied with his luxurious surroundings, and one day, the young prince sneaked out of the palace in his chariot to see the outside world that was still unknown to him. He was shocked to see an old person, a sick man, and a funeral procession. His charioteer told him that all this was a part of life. Then Gautam saw a saint and was confused by the calmness on his face. This incident left an indelible mark on the mind of the young prince, and one night he left his beautiful wife and infant son and began his journey to attain the truth of life.

When Gautama left his palace, he was twenty-nine. He wandered from place to place and did heavy penances. He even went to the stage of putting his body to harsh punishment. Gautama attained Enlightenment while meditating under a Bodhi tree in a place called Bodhgaya (in the state of Bihar), at the age of thirty-five. After attaining Enlightenment, he came to be known as the Buddha (the Enlightened One). He preached his first sermon in a place called Sarnath, which is near Varanasi (Benaras). Gautama Buddha passed away at the age of 80 in Kushinagar near Gorakhpur (in the state of Uttar Pradesh).

HOW HUMANS ARE CALLED TO ACT IN THE WORLD

Buddhism

Buddhist have what we call the 4 noble truths, which is the foundation of Buddhism; The truth of suffering (dukkha), The arising of suffering because of craving (samudaya), The truth of the end of suffering (nirhodha) and the truth of the path that frees us from suffering (magga). The words "Dukkha", "Samudaya" etc. is Pali, a variation of Sanskrit. The truth of suffering (dukkha): Nothing lasts forever. When you understand this, it makes it easier to not be so attached to everything. So when you're experiencing something you think is bad, you can relax in the knowledge that nothing bad lasts forever. And when you're experiencing happiness, you can also realize that nothing good lasts forever. Why would you want to do that? Because it helps you to be more aware of how you're reacting to your experiences at all times. The arising of suffering because of craving (samudaya): Say you want something and you don't get it--you'd get sad or frustrated. But say you want something and you do get it. Eventually you'll get bored with it and you'll start wanting something else. And so you start all over again. The truth of the end of suffering (nirhodha): You can end eternal suffering by ending the craving that leads to the continuation of suffering. Remember that suffering is caused by endlessly wanting what you can't have. So if you can stop this endless wanting, you won't suffer anymore. That's not saying that you won't feel sad or happy ever again. It's just that it won't be part of an endless cycle of wanting--not getting--being sad--wanting again. The truth of the path that frees us from suffering (magga): The Path is grounded in a program of meditation. It delineates a plan of self-discipline regarding ethical conduct, mental discipline, and wisdom. The Path avoids two extremes--the pursuit of complete and ultimate sensory pleasure, or the pursuit of utter self-denial.

HOW ARE THEY CALLED TO RELATE WITH EACH OTHER

Buddhists treat each other with respect and are peaceful towards everyone. The Buddha taught that it is very important to treat others with loving kindness. They analyze the nature of reality, and practice the Dharma daily, and must have a compassion for others that is so strong that they literally care more for the well-being of others than themselves. Enlightenment is not only understanding the true nature of reality, it is also uncovering the basic human loving kindness completely. Treating others with kindness even before you are enlightened will speed you on the path, and benefit not only you and the people you interact with, but the whole universe.
