Amritānanda, Thera; Nepalese Buddhist who became a Bhikkhu in Ceylon and then returned to become the leading Bst. in Nepal. Founded his own Theravāda Centre and School on the hill of Swayambhūnāth (q.v.), near Katmandu. Organized fourth Congress of World Fellowship of Buddhists at Kathmandu in 1956, and has since travelled extensively in Europe, the U.S.A., the U.S.S.R. and Japan.
