Bāmiyān : Ruins of Bst. monastery in Afghanistan. Large range of Bst. assembly halls carved from face of sandstone cliff, but famous for two enormous images of Buddha as Lord of the World, one 120 feet high and one 175 feet. Gandhāra art, third to sixth century A.D.
