Bhadra Kalpa
Tibetan Buddhist Encyclopedia is now 14 years old
Our Encyclopedia recently received a wonderful opportunity for a major renewal on its 14th birthday . After many years of growing our Encyclopedia had become bit slow and sometimes even decided not to answer when people knocked on the door.
A very big thank you and blessings to Dmytro Rudiy (rudiy.nl) for his great work in upgrading the server, website and all of the infrastructure and helping make TBE fast and reliable again for everyone!
We kindly ask our readers to help us cover the cost of this important upgrade and also help with the ongoing costs of keeping the Encyclopedia alive and freely available.

The present Kalpa is called Bhadra Kalpa where five Buddha’s will appear in succession – Kakusandha, Konâgamana, Kassapa and Gotama with one remaining to appear is Mettreyya. These teaching Buddha’s are called Supreme Buddha self-enlightened one. In every kalpa, Buddha will appear only in Jambudipa in Mezzima desa or Benares. At the same location in Mettreyya Buddha’s era it will be named “Ketumati”. This present Mezzima desa that is desolate now, will in Mettreyya Buddha’s era will be streamed with marvellous jewels and planted with wishing trees all over to feed people. In this way, we will be seeing ten more future Buddha’s in this order: Metteyya, Râma, Pasenadi Kosala, Bhibhû, Dîghasoni, Samkacca, Subha, Brahman Todeyya, Nâlâgiri, Palaleyya.
