Also, protuberant knot of flesh or fleshy protuberance. A knot of flesh resembling a topknot said to exist on the crown of a Buddha's head; one of a Buddha's thirty-two features. This feature is identified with "the unseen crown of the head," one of a Buddha's eighty characteristics, indicating that the crown of a Buddha's head cannot be seen by ordinary people. This knot of flesh is often depicted in Buddhist images and sculptures.
