緊那羅 (Skt; Jpn kinnara )
Also, kinnara. According to Indian mythology, musicians of the deity Kuvera who excel in singing and dancing and have a human body and the head of a horse. They were regarded as the gods of music. In Buddhism, they are one of the eight kinds of nonhuman beings who protect the Buddha's teachings, as are the heavenly musicians called gandharvas.
