伽耶山・象頭山; (Skt; Pali Gayasisa; Jpn Gaya-sen or Zozu-sen)
A hill in India on which Shakyamuni is believed to have preached. It has been identified as the hill known today as Brahmayoni, located 1.5 kilometers southwest of Gaya city in northeastern India.
In Chinese Buddhist scriptures, Mount Gayashirsha is rendered as the Elephant-Head Mountain.
According to Chinese scriptures, it was on Elephant-Head Mountain that Devadatta plotted to create a schism within the Buddhist Order and to form his own Buddhist community.
