three types of character
三性 (Jpn san-sho )
Also, three natures. A principle of the Yogachara, or Consciousness-Only, school classifying all things into three natures—good, bad, and unlabeled, or neutral. "Unlabeled" indicates that which cannot be defined as either good or bad, or which produces neither good nor bad karmic effect.
